Bird Watching

Villa Sounine is the perfect place for birdwatchers. There are many migratory birds along the coast, and a large number of resident species (most notably a couple of owls who tend to greet us daily). Michele, an Italian ornithologist, was kind enough to list the birds observed around the house during his stay in March 2019. He recorded nearly 60 species, includingbut not limited to waders, waterfowl, birds of prey, gallinaceous, columbine, and passerines. Other sites nearby, such as the Ghar El Melh wetland, and of course the Ichkeul National Park, will delight both amateur and professional bird watchers alike.
